FAQ

Your questions, answered

How much does smoke alarm installation cost?
It depends on how many alarms your home needs, whether they are hardwired, and your ceiling access. Your free onsite quote gives you one fixed price.
What are the Queensland smoke alarm requirements?
Photoelectric (AS 3786-2014), interconnected alarms in every bedroom, connecting hallway and level. They must be hardwired or have a 10-year non-removable battery, be under 10 years old and work when tested.
When do I need to comply?
Homes sold or leased: since 1 January 2022. All other Queensland homes: by 1 January 2027.
Do I need hardwired smoke alarms?
New builds and major renovations need hardwired 240V alarms, and existing 240V alarms must be replaced with 240V alarms. Battery alarms must be 10-year non-removable models.
What if I have no ceiling space?
Wireless interconnected alarms link without cabling between them, so they suit homes where wiring is hard.
Can you provide a compliance certificate?
Yes. We bring your alarms up to standard and provide certification of compliance with Queensland's smoke alarm legislation.
How do I know if my alarms are compliant?
Check the back of each alarm for AS 3786-2014 and the date. If you are not sure, we will check at your free onsite quote.
What happens after I send the form?
We call you during business hours (Mon to Fri, 6am to 5pm) to book your free onsite quote.
